Peace In Troubled Times

"Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me."       - John 14:1
"Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful."          1 - John 14:27
"These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world."  - John 16:33

Did you know that it is possible to live with a heart full of peace even though we live in troublesome times? In John 14, Jesus gave the very peace of God to us. It’s not peace that the world offers, but the peace of God! With that peace we are enabled to live lives free from fear. We don’t have to let what we see on the news cause us to lose our peace. We don’t have to let what we see happen to other people in the world cause us to become afraid. No, as sons and daughters of God Almighty we can live lives full of His peace!

The way to live a life that is unmoved by the circumstances going on around us is to do what the Lord instructed. In John 14:1, Jesus said, “Do not let your heart be troubled.” Well, the understood subject of that sentence is “you.” That means you and I are the ones in charge of whether or not we allow our hearts to be troubled. We have a part to play! God has given us His peace, but we must choose to allow that peace to rule and reign in our hearts and lives. When you allow God’s peace to have the final say in your heart you won’t be shaken by the difficulties of life!

In the world there will always be trials, tribulations, and difficulties, but the good news is that Jesus has overcome all of it and given us the victory! No matter what may be going on around you, you can choose to trust Him and take ahold of the peace that He has made available to you! Don’t allow your heart to be full of fear. Keep your eyes on Jesus for He is your perfect peace!

Love,
