Delight In Him

“How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand in the path of sinners, nor sit in the seat of scoffers!  But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night.  He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in its season and its leaf does not wither; and in whatever he does, he prospers.  The wicked are not so, But they are like chaff which the wind drives away.  Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.  For the Lord knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.”      - Psalms 1:1-6

There are two paths to choose from in our lives: the way of the wicked or the way of the righteous. In life, you and I are faced with the decision to walk down one of those roads. Each leads to an end of either experiencing God’s blessings or His judgments. The man who chooses to delight himself in the law of the Lord will be blessed in all that he does, but the man who chooses to dwell with the wicked will not last. If you want to stay strongly planted in God at all times and prosper in your ways, then choose to do what Psalms 1:2 says and begin to delight yourself in the Lord! Make it your utmost desire to seek His face and obey His Word every day.

God wants to be your constant desire at all times. Although life can be busy and your schedule jam packed, always give God the devotion He deserves. Time spent meditating on the Word and communing with God the Father should never be neglected. Matthew 6:33 says, “Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” Even if you feel a million other things grabbing for your attention, do what the Word says and put God first. When you make the decision to delight in giving God and His Word first priority, He will do what He promised and prosper you in everything you do. The Lord will give you the peace, patience, and ability to meet all the demands of life!
