God's Benefits

"Bless the LORD, O my soul, And forget none of His benefits; Who pardons all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases; Who redeems your life from the pit, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and compassion; Who satisfies your years with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle."     - Psalm 103:2-5 NASB

At your job, there might be some employee benefits that are made available to you such as health insurance, pension plans, and paid vacation. All of those are benefits of being an employee of the company you work for. But what if you forgot you had those benefits? What if you never took a vacation day because you did not realize you had them available? What if you forgot about your pension? If you did, you would certainly never be able to enjoy the benefits of them! You would go through life without accessing them. Well, as a child of the King of Kings, you have certain benefits too, and Psalm 103 lists what some of them are.

I like how David starts the Psalm off by blessing the Lord. That's important. Never forget the Lord's great blessings. Don't live your life ungratefully. Be sure to thank God for everything, even the little things! What are these benefits God has given to us? First and foremost is forgiveness. God pardons every one of our sins if we ask Him to! Another blessing listed here is healing. It says in verse 2 that the Lord heals all of our diseases. Healing is a benefit of serving God! He wants you well! What are some other benefits of being in the Kingdom of God? Redemption. This is one of my favorites! God redeems or saves your life from the pit. When He died on that cross, Jesus bore every sin, every pain, every burden, and every heartache- anything and everything that was meant by the devil to keep you defeated and in the pit! God wants you out of the pit and enjoying life! Here's another- crowning. The Bible says the Lord crowns His children with lovingkindness and compassion. He wants you to be surrounded and enveloped by His great love and mercy every day of your life! And finally, He satisfies your years with good things. Not bad things, good things! He wants to bless you with the desires of your heart. He wants to give you good things! God has made so many benefits available to us, but we have to be aware of them and access them if we want to see them in our lives.

Make it your goal not only this year, but every year, to step into all the great blessings the Lord has provided. He has already promised to give them to you. All you have to do is ask God the Father about His great benefit package and He will give it to you!

Love,
